6th Annual Pequea Silver Mine Park Community Day

Pequea Silver Mine Park will be hosting its 6th annual community day on Saturday, June 1, 2013 from 10:00am- 6:00 pm. Admission is free, and there are many attractions for all ages! Magician Show by Jontue (11 am and 2 pm shows) childrens games and events, moon bounce (for children 12 and under), antique tractors, rope making demonstration, pottery wheel demonstration, antique and classic card show, numerous craft vendors, petting zoo, bee keeper observation frame, pet costume contest (1 pm) pony cart rides, food, ice cream and a silent auction just to name a few. The Booth Brothers at Lebanon's Music in the Park

Lebanon's Music in the Park is bringing the Booth Brothers back to the area on Sunday, June 9th. In gospel music, the Booth Brothers are today, the country's most outstanding male trio. Having won numerous awards over the years, they draw huge audiences wherever they appear. Recommended you be there early. Music in the Park concert time is 7 PM on Sunday, June 9th at the newly renovated green amphitheatre in Coleman park on the north side of Lebanon, on route 72. Get Outdoors Day

Get Outdoors Day celebrates America's great outdoors and encourages everyone to spend time exploring the natural world and enjoying recreational activities. Participating partners will offered information and interactive samples of recreational activities at PA State Parks, including: disc golf, geocaching, orienteering, kayaking, camping and fishing. There is no pre-registration for this FREE event which will be held rain or shine on Sunday, June 9th from 1-5 pm on the mansion lawn at Kings Gap. Most activities are for ages 8 to adult, although some will be offered for younger family members. A food concession will be provided by the Friends of Kings Gap. The mansion will also be open for self guided tours of the first floor from 1 pm- 5 pm. The Kings Gap Environmental Education Center is located at 500 Kings Gap Road Carlisle, PA 17015. Community Health Fair

The Regional Center for Cancer Care of Lancaster Regional and Heart of Lancaster Regional Medical Centers are having a fun and educational health fair for the whole family on Friday, June 14th. This event includes a free expo with booths and information including cancer services, family health, heart care and more. There will also be carnival games, free screenings, raffles, food and more. Proceeds from the raffle, carnival games and food will be donated to the American Cancer Society. 26th Annual Doc and Mama Rock Millersville Mile

Millersville Athletics is hosting a community mile run and 2 competitive mile races (mostly downhill course) All races are being held on June 16th, 2013 beginning on the corner of North George Street and Route 999 and finishing on James street by the tennis courts. The Community run is $12 (tee shirt included) and begins at 6:30 pm. The women's competitive race is $18 and begins at 7:00 pm. The men's competitive race is also $18 and begins at 7:20 pm. Public Starwatch at Astronomical Society

The York County Astronomical Society (YCAS) will be offering a FREE Public Observing Starwatch at their Observatory at John C. Rudy County Park on Saturday, June 15, 2013, 8:00 pm- 10:00 pm. Expand your mind by taking in the expanse of the universe. Come and view the June skies with us through one of our telescopes and let our experienced members guide you on a tour of celestial wonders, including stars, planets, nebulae and the moon. You are also invited to bring your own telescope and share your experiences with other amateur astronomers. Star Charts are available to help your exploration of the nighttime sky. This event will only be held if it is clear or partly cloudy out. Garden Spot Village Holy Experiment Tour

Garden Spot Village invites the public to join in the Holy Experiment Tour on June 15. Led by Tony Blair, Ph.D., D.Min., president of Evangelical Seminary in Myerstown, the tour will visit a number of churches that played key roles in the region’s religious history. “Dr. Blair will highlight the splendid variety of early Pennsylvania Christian communities,” said Chet Yoder, director of pastoral services at Garden Spot Village. Participants will tour the Rev. Jacob Albright grave and Albright Memorial Church in Kleinfeltersville, where Blair will discuss the history of the Evangelical Association. They will visit the Lutheran Church in Shaefferstown, where Frederick Augustus Muhlenberg was once pastor, and hear a history of Pennsylvania Lutheranism. They will also visit the Tulpehocken Church, where Phillip William Otterbein, founder of the United Brethren, was once pastor. In Ephrata, Blair will give a brief history of the Cloister, and a visit to a local Presbyterian church will provide a backdrop for the history of the Scots-Irish in Pennsylvania. The program also includes a tour of the Pense Archaeological Museum at the Evangelical Seminary. The tour leaves Garden Spot Village at 8:30 a.m. and returns at approximately 3p.m. The $15 fee includes transportation and lunch at the Evangelical Seminary. Please register by June 8. The 2nd Annual Lititz Storytelling Festival will take place on Sept. 13 & 14, 2013 in the Snavely Theater on the Linden Hall campus in Lititz, PA. The Wizard of Oz- Cavod Community Theatre

This spring Cavod Community Theatre will be presenting The Wizard of Oz directed by Stan Deen and Ben Krothe, at Lancaster Mennonite High School Fine Arts Center.  The cast features over 50 people from the Lancaster County area ranging from children to adults.  The Wizard of oz will be playing May 24th-26th at 7:00pm.  Tickets are $16 for adults and $13 for students and seniors, and $19 at the door.  There is one matinee show on May 25th at 2:00pm.  We will be holding a costume contest at that showing.  Any child that dresses up as Dorothy, the Tin Man, the Cowardly Lion, or the Scarecrow will recieve a small prize.  4 big prizes will be given to whoever has the best costume of each character.  Student/Senior tickets will be sold at $10 at the matinee show.  Tickets may be purchased online or by calling 717-354-3355. 


2nd Annual Shelter Storm Roof Giveaway

Garden Spot Village Exhibits

The Garden Spot Village will display entries in the 2013 Congressional Art Competition in its Main Street Gallery during the month of May.  The approximately three-dozen paintings, drawings, collages, prints, photograhs and computer generated images are the work of high school students in the 16th Congressional District of Pennsylvania, represented by Joseph R. Pitts (R-PA).  The public is invited to view the Congressional Art Competition entries from 8am until 9pm.  Garden Spot Village is located at 433 S. Strawberry Fest

American Cancer Society's Pennsylvania Hope Ride

The American Cancer Society's inaugural Pennsylvania Hope Ride is June 29th-30th.  This bike tour raises funds for Pennsylvania's Hope Lodge facilities, which is a free place for cancer patients to stay while they recieve treatment. This summer the American Cancer Society will have a two day bike ride throughout Pennsylvania June 29th and 30th.  Money raised will be used for the Hope Lodge facilities in Heshey and Philadelphia.  Hope Lodge is a place to stay while a person is recieving cancer treatment.  To learn more about the Pennsylvania Hope Ride call 717-909-9747 or visit the website.
